WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) - The Walker City Commission has approved a proclamation dedicating part of Remembrance Road to Officer Trevor Slot, who was killed in the line of duty almost a year ago.

Remembrance Road between Wilson and Kinney avenues will have be renamed in honor of Slot.

Slot had been an officer for Walker police for nine years.

He was killed Oct. 13, 2011, while trying to lay down spike strips to stop armed suspects that had robbed a bank and were fleeing police on I-96. Slot was the first Walker officer to ever be killed in the line of duty.

The road will officially be dedicated to Officer Slot next Saturday, exactly one year after his death.
