LOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 50-year-old Lowell woman operating a motorcycle died Wednesday after crashing head-on with a pickup truck outside Tip Top Gravel, on East Fulton.
Beth Schuivens, who was riding eastbound on her 1995 Kawasaki motorcycle, was hit by a Ford F-150 around 3:20 p.m., east of Sargent.
The truck was driven by a 54-year-old Big Rapids man who was heading westbound on M-21. He failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn onto a private drive, hitting Schuivens, police say. She was ejected and died on scene.
Schuivens, who was wearing a helmet, didn't have any passengers with her, and neither did the pickup driver. He was wearing his seat belt and was not injured, according to a state police news release.
