Mich man sentenced in federal sex crime

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WOOD) - A Cedar Springs man who drove to Ohio to have sex with two pre-teen girls will spend more than 12 years in prison.

In early February, Herman Kamphuis, 43, had online messages and chats with the "father" of two girls, purportedly 6- and 11-years-old, the criminal complaint states.

What Kamphuis didn't know was that the "father" was an undercover officer.

He allegedly told the "father" he wanted to have sex with the girls and "make a 25 year fantasy come true." Federal agents said he set up a time for a meeting in Ohio, and brought his computer with him.

Kamphuis was sentenced to 145 months in prison with credit for time served. He will also be placed on a sex offender program and serve 15 years probation.
