CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (WOOD) - The first Maranda Park Party of 2012 was a hit in Cedar Springs.
All of the food and entertainment was free for everyone at the Cedar Springs Public Schools Complex, 204 E. Muskegon St.
More than 3,500 people showed up. There were turkey burgers, Ice Mountain water, Country Fresh Ice Cream, McDonalds treats, Meijer apples and more.
Some of rides included Turbo Tubs, the Fifth Third Super Slide, the Ferris Climbing Wall, the Whitecaps inflatables and the Dixie Twister.
Other happenings at the event --
-- Priority Health gave away free backpacks
-- Helen DeVos Children's Hospital passed out Frisbees
-- Great non-profits had fun games and prizes like Bethany's Wheel of Prizes and the Holland Aquatics aquatic adventures
-- Cruiser from Craig's Cruisers was there and passed out goodies.
Many brought a bag of new or gently used clothing or toys to donate to Goodwill Industries, which had a truck at the site. The donors then received an Entertainment Book in exchange for your donation.

We want to make parents who attended this event aware that one of our vendors was passing out first aid kits that contained a sample packet of aspirin. These were not intended for children and we are encouraging parents of children who attended this event to make sure their children don't have these kits.
