GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Comstock Park Man who admitted to the FBI to assaulting a 5-year-old girl has accepted a plea deal in federal court.
Eric Straatsma, 34, pleaded guilty in federal court to sexual exploitation of a child, a crime punishable by 15 to 30 years in prison.
As part of the deal, charges of distributing and possessing child pornography were dropped.
FBI documents say Straatsma admitted to agents and the father of a 5-year-old girl that he made a digital movie with the naked child as well as previously molesting a child between the ages of 3 and 9.
Straatsma was arrested March 2 after the FBI searched his residence and found more than 1,000 images of child pornography, including some videos, and more than 100 pair of little girls' underpants. FBI documents show Straatsma also admitted to producing child pornography.
Straatsma was released on especially restrictive bond conditions on March 14.
Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 7.
