GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Kent County man accused of performing circumcisions in his Sparta home pleaded guilty Monday to a four-year felony.

Thomas Heugel admitted to the unauthorized practice of a health profession in exchange for the dropping of a misdemeanor charge for performing an occupation without a license.

The 56-year-old also was accused of performing massages and body piercings inside his home.

Heugel had a "a makeshift operating room in his house," according to a Kent County sheriff's lieutenant.

"He quite often wore a doctor's uniform that really left the impression he was a medical doctor," Lt. Kevin Kelley told 24 Hour News 8 on March 3.

Heugel will be sentenced June 9.
