ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The 22-year-old Alpine Township resident who told police he was stabbed in the thigh Sunday morning admitted to officers he fabricated the story and stabbed himself in the leg since he was late to work.
The man was re-interviewed and admitted to the fabrication. He told police he had overslept and was late, then decided to stab himself and report the incident.
Investigators are in the process of obtaining a warrant for his arrest for the false report of a felony.
Kent County sheriff's deputies responded to the stabbing at York Creek Apartments on Sunday morning. The man said he was approached by someone in his 40s who asked for a cigarette, then was stabbed.
