TYRONE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Authorities are saying about a Tyrone Township man faked a story about someone trying to kidnap his child.

The father told the Kent County Sheriff's Department on Sept. 6 that someone tried to walk away with his 2-year-old son. He said he fought off the attacker, but didn't report the incident for two days.

Authorities originally treated the report as real and investigated, but they now say the man fabricated the whole story.

The man now faces charges for filing a false police report.
