GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Almost three weeks after a deadly stabbing, suspect Jack Jacqmain is back in the state after being extradited from Missouri.
Jacqmain allegedly stabbed a man at a Walker motel on August 18 and then fled the state. He is now being processed in Jackson.
A Florissant, Mo. police officer arrested Jacqmain for loitering, and then found out he was wanted for murder. Jacqmain waived extradition in St. Louis, and Michigan authorities picked him up Sept. 1. The trip took four days because the extradition company made stops along the way.
A company that specializes in extraditions dropped him off at the Charles Egeler Reception & Guidance Center in Jackson early Sunday morning. He will undergo mental and physical health screenings before the parole board assigns him to a prison.
Jacqmain has a history of mental illness.
A mistake allowed Jacqmain to walk away from a mental health center six days before the stabbing. Kent County jail and state prison officials continue to blame each other for that mistake.
A timeline of Jacqmain's criminal history:
