KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WOOD) - Two vehicles slammed into the safety fencing along U.S. 131 on Monday when one driver became "impatient" and lost control of his car while passing an SUV.

The crash happened near the border of Allegan and Kent counties.

A Blazer was traveling southbound on 131 in the left lane, going about 70 miles per hour, the driver told 24 Hour News 8. The driver of a Mustang behind the Blazer started to pass the SUV on the right when he slid.

The road was wet, and his Mustang struck the passenger-side door of the Blazer, knocking the SUV into the safety fencing.

The car hit the fencing, too, tearing up about 100 feet of it. The 26-year-old driver was "going too fast for conditions," a Michigan State Police officer said. He was ticketed, but didn't suffer any injuries. The man didn't have any passengers in the Mustang.

He told the officer if it weren't for the fencing, he would have hit oncoming traffic.

Inside the Blazer was an Ohio family, in West Michigan visiting relatives. No one was hurt.
