GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Get ready for full body scans at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.
Airport deputy director Phil Johnson told 24 Hour News 8 there will be two machines. One is already installed for the A Concourse, while the scanner for the B Concourse will be installed next week.
Not all the passengers will need to go through the machines, and you can refuse to go through it if you're selected. However, if you do, you'll be screened in a variety of different, manual ways.
Johnson said the airport has not heard concerns from passengers about the scanners -- but they're not yet operational. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) told the airport they will add extra staff in October when their new budget year begins.
