Several fire departments responded to a house fire near the Kent/Barry county borders.

The house, at 10725 Freeport, is just north of the village. The blaze is described as fully involved, and was big enough to call in firefighters from Freeport, Campbell Township and Bowne Township.

No one was at home at the time of the fire, but two dogs in the house were taken by firefighters and are safe.

A woodburning stove is suspected as the cause of the blaze, but the investigation continues. The house does not appear to be a total loss.

24 Hour News 8 will have more information as it develops.
