GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Ex-youth minister Matthew Abid was arraigned Wednesday on charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Matthew Abid, 30, worked with "Credo," a young adult ministry group at Holy Trinity Church, when he was arrested by the Kent County Sheriff's Department on one count of felony sexual assault.
Court documents report a 15-year-old girl saying that she went into the basement with Abid and the two began kissing and he touched her inappropriately. The girl was taking drivers training at the church in December 2011 and also attended Abid's youth group.
Investigators say Abid admitted to touching the teenage girl and that there were several other incidents of sexual conduct between Abid and the victim after she turned 16.
Abid was given a $25,000 cash or surety bond and ordered not to have any contact with the victim. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21 at 2:45 p.m.
