The crime took place at around 8 p.m. at 919 36th Street SW.

Police say the thief threatened the clerk with a handgun and got away with some cash.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 5'5" tall and having a thin build. He was wearing a gray-over-dark colored hooded sweatshirt or sweater, dark jeans and dark shoes. His face was partially covered with a red bandana.
