GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Supporters hoping to open two Grand Rapids city pools have raised $18,357 toward the effort so far, including roughly $1,800 netted over the weekend from the Country Palooza music festival.
The goal is to raise $175,000 to open the pools at Briggs and Martin Luther King parks. Businessman Bob Sullivan has pledged to pay to open the pool at Richmond Park.
The private fundraising effort was announced last week. Backers hope to raise the funds by the end of this week.
