C. Springs man indicted for child porn

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Cedar Springs man arrested in June on sex abuse charges involving children was indicted in federal court Thursday on six counts of transportation of child pornography and two counts of possession of child porn.

Leonard Glen Overmyer III, 44, earlier this year was charged in Grand Rapids circuit court with two counts of child sexually abusive activity and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime, state police said.

The state police's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force launched a 10-month investigation after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received 43 tips over the Internet.

State police Lt. Tom Kish said the task force "took aggressive steps to identify and arrest the individual responsible for such significant efforts to exploit children."

He is still awaiting trial on those charges.

The new federal charges allege Overmyer was uploading child pornography in March, April, May and June of 2009 to computer servers in California.
