GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Bloggers are calling Grandville pastor Rob Bell a heretic, as his new book prepares to hit stores March 29.
"Love Wins" is authored by the pastor of Mars Hill Bible , a mega-church with thousands of attendees across the area.
Bell's publisher released a description of the book, and one of the issues centers around the idea of hell -- as in, does it exist?
Some bloggers say it appears Bell is pushing universalism, meaning everyone goes to heaven and there is no hell. Conservative Christians and bloggers are tearing the book apart; some calling it "false teaching."
The buzz is so big, CNN is covering the story and Bell was one of the top ten trending topics Saturday on Twitter.
24 Hour News 8 reached out to Bell for comment, but he has not gotten back in touch.
On his website, people can watch a video of Bell explaining the book.
News 8 also contacted several well-known pastors and theologians in West Michigan, but all of them said they wanted to wait until they had a copy of the book before commenting.
