WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) - Police in three West Michigan cities are looking for the man who allegedly committed five robberies Thursday morning within the span of about an hour.

Authorities initially thought the man was acting alone, but later information indicated he may have had an accomplice. Police received a tip about a man fitting the suspect's description with another person in a light-colored -- possibly gray -- Pontiac Grand Prix.

The first robbery happened at 1:30 a.m. at the Marathon gas station at 44th Street and Clyde Park Avenue in Wyoming.

The 10 minutes later the suspect went to the Speedway gas station at 44th Street and Byron Center Avenue in Wyoming.

Then at 1:50 a.m. police said the Speedway gas station at 28th Street and Byron Center Avenue in Wyoming was robbed.

The at 2 a.m. police said the suspect robbed La Familia Stop-N-Shop in the 1000 block of Grandville Avenue in Grand Rapids.

Then the Admiral gas station at Alpine Avenue and Hillside Drive in Walker was robbed around 2:13 a.m., but police said they interrupted the robbery in progress. The suspect was able to escape, despite efforts to track him with a K9 unit.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, having a medium build, and wearing a Detroit Tigers baseball hat, a light-colored, striped shirt and dark short.

The suspect had a gun at the first robbery but it is unknown if the weapon was seen at the other locations.

Wyoming Capt. Kim Koster said the suspect may be desperate or may have hit so many stores because he wasn't getting much cash from each robbery.

Witnesses are asked to call police or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345 to help solve these crimes.
