GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - West Michigan is gearing up to celebrate the 236th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence . Here's a brief guide to help you plan your July 4th revelry.

Michigan recently changed their laws regarding consumer fireworks. At the bottom is a list of local ordinances about firework use you may find helpful.

- Grand Haven: Considering Grand Rapids-type ban, may add additional days around Coast Guard festival.
- Grand Rapids: Banned on all but the 30 days allowed under state law (takes effect July 1, 2012)
- Grandville: Banned on all but the 30 days allowed under state law (takes effect July 1, 2012)
- Ionia: Working on an ordinance similar to Grand Rapids
- Kalamazoo: No changes in the works
- Kentwood : Banned on all but the 30 days allowed under state law, minors can not possess or use
- Muskegon Heights: Banned on all but the 30 days

allowed under state law (takes effect mid-July 2012)
- Rockford: Passed a ban limiting the time fireworks can be used. No use between 11pm and 11am (except days allowed under state law)
