GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Four men arrested in an October arrest for attempting to distribute $12 million of marijuana have entered guilty pleas in federal court in Grand Rapids this week.
Anthony Castro Gonzales, Tony Frank Disla-Santiago, Flavio Ramos and Angel Luis DeLeon-DeJesus were busted in Wyoming in October 2011 for possessing 494 bales of pot weighing in at 12,350 pounds.
The police-estimated street value of the confiscated marijuana was $12 million.
The four men along with two others were indicted in late October in connection with the bust.
Flavio Ramos entered a guilty plea Thursday to possession with intent to distribute 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana.
Wednesday, Anthony Castro Gonzales pleaded guilty to felony information that he used a telephone to facilitate the possession with intent to deliver 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana.
Angel Luis DeLeon-DeJesus and Tony Frank Disla-Santiago both entered guilty pleas earlier this week to possession with intent to distribute 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana.
Five others have been indicted in connection to the crime. Adrian Nunez-Gonzalez, Alex Parra, Angel Eduardo Santos-Rodriguez AKA Changa, Patrick O'Meara Jr., and Samuel Granillo-Herrera await trial.
Sentencing for three of the men who have entered guilty pleas is set for August 27, 2012 in federal court in Grand Rapids.
No sentencing date has been set for Ramos.
Authorities have said that recent spikes in drug activity may indicate that Michigan is becoming a drug trafficking hub.
