CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (WOOD) - Two people are in custody, a teen girl is under suspicion and a fourth person remains at large following an August armed robbery of a man who had recently sold a car.

Around midnight on August 27, Cedar Springs police said, there was a knock on the door of the victim's apartment. The person asked to use the phone, and then forced his way in. He grabbed the victim, stuck a sharp object in his back and demanded money. The victim gave him some cash, and the man took three cell phones before fleeing.

The case remain unsolved for months, but the Cedar Springs police worked with the Kent County Sheriff's Department over time.

Stephen Michael Matthews Jr. and Cole Mitchell Kasinger were arrested in connection with the case. A 16-year-old girl was interviewed and released into the custody of her mother, but charges are expected through juvenile court.

A fourth person, described as a 30-year-old Cedar Springs man, remains at large.

Matthews Jr., 28, is currently in the Montcalm County Jail on other charges. Another felony warrant was added to his charges.

Kasinger, 18, was arrested and arraigned, then released after posting bond.

From the beginning, investigators did not think this was a random robbery and that the victim was targeted because he had just sold the car and may have had money.
