10 indicted in $5.5M marijuana shipping

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Three people accused of transporting millions of dollars worth of marijuana from California to West Michigan pleaded not guilty in federal court Wednesday.
Thomas Verburg, Catherine Weitz and Christy Weitz each face federal charges of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana.
Also in court Wednesday for his first appearance was Daniel Verburg. He has not yet been arraigned.
Federal court documents allege that the four suspects, along with six others, shipped $5.5 million in marijuana from California to the Grand Rapids area via commercial freight companies.
Some among the 10 also bought land near Grand Rapids with the intention of growing and selling marijuana, according to court documents.
Also indicted were Timothy Lang, Kyle McDonald, Ramiro Romas, Edward Sund, Brian Verburg and Chad Weitz.
