2 of 5 teens injured in crash now home

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) - Two of five Grand Haven High School students injured in a rollover car accident Friday morning have been released from a hospital, and two others have been upgraded from critical to serious condition.

Danielle Michaels was released from Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, hospital officials confirmed to 24 Hour News 8 Saturday morning. Emily Bogner was listed in critical condition early Sunday morning, but was upgraded to serious condition later in the day.

24 Hour News 8 learned Hannah DeVecht was also released from the hospital.

Tony and Julie DeVecht, the parents of Hannah DeVecht, released a statement Sunday afternoon --

"We are happy to report that our daughter Hannah DeVecht has been released from the hospital and is home continuing to rest and heal from her injuries. We would like to thank the entire community for their tremendous expression of concern, love and support. Having spent the past 48 hours with the families of the other injured girls I can tell you that the power of prayer has been very powerful. Please join us in continuing to pray for Gods healing hand for all of our girls."

Helen DeVos Children's Hospital officials still has not released information on the conditions of Madison Case and Brittney Olds, but according to a Facebook page supporting the teens Madison has been upgraded from critical to stable condition.

The family of Brittney Olds said she remains in a medically-induced coma and has serious head injuries.

Superintendent Keith Konarska said all of the girls' conditions have stabilized and the news has been encouraging.

The teens were injured as a result of a crash that happened when the driver of the SUV the girls were traveling in crossed the median on I-96 in Lowell and rolled twice late Friday morning.
 
Three of the teens were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle.
 
The girls were headed to the Breslin Center in East Lansing to watch the Grand Haven High School girl's basketball team compete in the state semi-finals Friday.
 
After the game, students were told about the crash and gathered to pray for the students involved.

A crisis team was activated to help students cope with the incident.

Konarska said he and others from the school were traveling to watch the team play in another game in East Lansing after Friday's win.

He says he hopes students focus on the game while keeping the injured girls in their thoughts.
