Woman shot after fight with boyfriend

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman was shot in the arm after an argument with her boyfriend, who was later arrested by Kalamazoo police.

Officers were dispatched to Bronson Methodist Hospital regarding a shooting victim.

The 26-year-old woman from Kalamazoo told police her boyfriend picked her up in the 1700 block of N. Edwards Street, and they got into an argument. During the fight, she told police, he started hitting her with a handgun, and then shot her once in the arm. 

Her boyfriend drove her to the hospital, but then left.

Officers were able to find the suspect, a 23-year-old Kalamazoo man, in a home in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Forbes Street. They arrested him for assault with intent to commit murder, felony firearm, felony in possession of a firearm and violation of a conditional bond.

The woman is expected to be fine.
