BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - About 30 people gathered on Tuesday in Battle Creek to remember Baylee Stenman.
Baylee was only 3 years old when she died in August 2011 after suffering a subdural hematoma that was found to be the result of shaken baby syndrome.
Baylee's mother's boyfriend Leo Ackley is scheduled to stand trial in connection with the death. He is charged with open murder and first-degree child abuse.
The memorial was held at Friendship Park in Battle Creek at about 5:30, according to attendee Kim Honyoust.
About 30 people came to remember the little girl, who would have been 4 years old on Tuesday. Attendees held a candlelight vigil and released balloons into the air in memoriam of Baylee.
