PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) - Three people from Indiana are accused of breaking into numerous vehicles in a West Michigan neighborhood.
A Portage Department of Public Safety officer at 3:30 a.m. Thursday saw a suspicious vehicle in the Moorsbridge neighborhood. A traffic stop was conducted and the officer noticed numerous stolen items inside the vehicle, including GPS units, a laptop computer and golf clubs.
Two of the vehicle's occupants had been dropped off earlier in the area, police said
A Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit was dispatched to the scene to track the suspects, but unable to locate them.
Then around 5:30 a.m., the two suspects were seen entering the Meijer store on Shaver Road and eventually arrested.
A third person was also taken into custody.
The suspects told police that they drove from the Mishawaka, Ind. area and admitted to breaking into numerous vehicles, according to a news release.
