KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Police in Kalamazoo are having a difficult time trying to piece together a shooting investigation.

The victim and witnesses are being uncooperative, according to authorities.

Officers were called around 1 a.m. Saturday to the 1300 block of Sherwood Avenue on a report of a disturbance and possible shooting. Officers arrived and dispersed a group in the area. No one in the group told police what was going on nor acknowledged any shooting.

An uninvolved witness told officers some people had been gambling and a fight broke out. The witness said a gunshot had been fired, but did not know who fired the gun or if anyone was struck.

Then about 30 minutes later, officers were notified a gunshot victim had arrived at Borgess Hospital. The victim, a 20-year-old Kalamazoo man, was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to a leg.

The victim also wouldn't tell police what happened or who shot him.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at (269) 337-8994 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.
