BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - A corrections officer with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, accused in a sex case, has lost his job.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office of Professional Standards has completed its internal investigation regarding alleged complaints of criminal misconduct filed against Troy Pope on Jan. 19.
After a meeting Friday morning in the Sheriff's Administration Office, Pope was terminated from employment with the County of Calhoun and the Sheriff's Office, according to news release.
An 18-year-old male, who was arrested earlier this month, told jail officials that Pope offered him money for sex and "it appeared to be consensual."
The 18-year-old also told police about Pope having an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy. At least one incident happened in a car in the Springfield Fraternal Order of Police parking lot. That boy is now 17.
Pope, 26, faces one charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for his alleged relationship with the now-17-year-old and is in custody without bond.
