LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A timeline has been set on Enbridge Inc.'s plan to replace more sections of a pipeline that leaked more than 800,000 gallons of oil in southern Michigan last summer.
The company wants to replace three 5-mile segments, including a section that passes through Marshall and under the Kalamazoo River. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports a meeting was held Tuesday in Lansing and a Feb. 2 target date was set for a proposal for a decision.
The other two sections would be east of Enbridge's pump stations in Niles and Mendon.
Calgary, Alberta-based Enbridge also is going through separate hearings for a larger pipeline replacement project in Michigan and Indiana.
The cleanup from the July 2010 spill is ongoing. The pipeline runs from Griffith, Ind., to Sarnia, Ontario.
