OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD/AP) - Three McDonald's employees were injured after police said someone sprayed a chemical into a drive-thru window.

The employees were treated at the scene after suffering burning throats, eyes and skin.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the McDonald's restaurant at 5394 W. Main St. in Oshtemo Township. Police said a man and a woman received their order but continued to sit in their vehicle outside the window. The chemical was sprayed inside when a clerk re-opened the window, the Kalamazoo Gazette reports.

24 Hour News 8 talked to a Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department investigator. A hazardous materials team at the scene told deputies that the substance is "consistent with the chemistry found in a dry chemical fire extinguisher," the investigator said.

No suspects have been arrested and police will look at surveillance video.

"Whoever it is out there it is probably in their best interest to come forward remorseful over the situation rather than wait for police to come track them down," Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Pali Matyas told 24 Hour News 8.
