PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) - A teacher accused in a drunken-driving case has been transferred to another school.
Leslie Buscher used to teach fifth-graders at Lake Center Elementary School in Portage. Now she will be a resource room teacher at Portage Northern High School, district spokesman Tom Vance told 24 Hour News 8.
She was arrested July 15 in Antwerp Township after Van Buren County sheriff's deputies say they found her in an SUV slumped over the steering wheel. Her two children, ages 2 and 4, and a party cup half full of vodka were also found inside the vehicle.
Her blood-alcohol level was more than 0.40, police said; the legal limit in Michigan is 0.08.
The 37-year-old has pleaded not guilty to operating with a blood-alcohol content of 0.17 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger under 16 years of age.
