KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - The suspects in a September homicide and nearby non-fatal shooting have been arrested in Georgia, according to Kalamazoo police.
Jheryl Wright, 25, of Kalamazoo was shot and killed outside a Portage Street Quick Stop around 3 a.m. Sept. 30.
On Dec. 14, an open murder warrant was issued for 31-year-old Kalamazoo resident Clarence E. Ross, Jr., according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
The investigation into Wright's death also led to assault with intent to murder charges against Duncan E. Williams, Jr., a 30-year-old Kalamazoo resident, for a Sept. 29 night shooting on Dutton Street -- only a mile or so from the convenience store where Wright was shot about three hours later.
On Tuesday, both suspects were arrested in Atlanta with the assistance of the FBI and the Atlanta Fugitive Squad, according to KDPS.
An extradition hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
Both incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information on either of the shootings is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division at 269.337.8139 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
