BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - A man is in police custody for allegedly shooting another man to death in front of a Battle Creek residence early Thursday morning.
Officers responded at 1:40 a.m. outside the home near Vale Street and E. Columbia Avenue. The victim, 24-year-old Ian Michael Millard, was located in the driveway and pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound, police said in a news release.
The incident began with a fight earlier at the Fire & Ice Bar, 1745 E. Columbia Ave., police later told 24 Hour News 8, and ended with gunfire at that residence, where the victim was apparently staying.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for a separate house in the same area, and questioned several people about what happened.
After interviewing 30-year-old Robert James Reno, police arrested him. Police said Millard and Reno were involved in an altercation and at some point Reno shot Millard in the chest.
Police continue to investigate the situation. If you have more information about this case, you are asked to call the Battle Creek Police Department or Silent Observer at 269.964.3888.
