PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) - More than 160 Michigan Army National Guard soldiers from the Kalamazoo-based 507th Engineer Company will return home Saturday after a 10-month tour of duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The group is scheduled to land around 1:50 p.m. at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport in Kalamazoo. The soldiers will then be bussed to a homecoming ceremony scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the gymnasium of Portage Central High School.
Several of the returning servicemen and women were in the Western Michigan University ROTC program.
According to officials, more than 700 Michigan National Guard soldiers and airmen are deployed in support of the global war on terrorism.
