PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) - A Kalamazoo County woman who walked away from an adult foster care facility Monday afternoon was spotted twice on Tuesday.

Bonnie Merckley, 54, previously suffered a closed head injury that requires medication. Authorities say Merckley can communicate, but may become confused or agitated under stress or if she does not take her medication.

Authorities said she cannot take care of her basic needs, and is considered endangered.

She was noticed missing from the residential facility in the 9800 block of Oakland Drive in Portage around 3:15 p.m. Monday. Portage officers and a Michigan State Police K-9 unit searched, but did not locate her that day.

Merckley may have been seen between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday in the 2300 block of Beethoven Avenue near Shaver Road in Portage, walking west toward the state game area, authorities said.

There may have been a second sighting between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday as she was walking north in the 8800 block of Shaver Road on the west side of the road.

Merckley is a white woman, 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 175 pounds, has gray-blonde hair that reaches to the middle of her back, and last seen wearing blue jeans, and a black and white horizontally-striped shirt. She may have a leopard skin print purse and wearing a leopard skin print sweater.

Anyone who sees Merckley is asked to contact the Portage Department of Public Safety at 269.329.4567 or local law enforcement.
