Probation check leads to meth bust

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A check on a probation violator led to the arrest of two people and the discovery of a meth house.

Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Community Outreach Problem Solving Division (COPS) and a Michigan Department of Corrections probation/parole officer conducted the investigation.

They responded Thursday to a home in the 1000 block of Lay Boulevard to conduct a compliance check of a 43-year-old woman resident who was placed on probation for charges related to methamphetamine on Jan. 2.

The compliance check led to a search warrant for the residence after suspected meth was located inside the probationer's bedroom.

While securing the home, a 43-year-old man was found hiding inside the residence and in possession of suspected meth.

Suspected meth was located in several different rooms throughout the residence was packaged for sale with a street value of more than $2,500, according to a news release.

In the room where the man was hiding, a large quantity of marijuana was recovered that was also packaged for sale.

As a result of this investigation, the woman was arrested on charges of maintaining a drug house, possession with the intent to deliver meth, and a probation violation.

The man was arrested on charges of frequenting a drug house, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, and possession of meth.
