KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A 28-year-old Kalamazoo Township resident is in jail for allegedly stabbing a man multiple times.
Officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety were dispatched at 11 p.m. Monday to the 500 block of W. Cedar Street. That is where they found a 27-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to an arm and abdomen.
Witnesses gave police a description of the suspect who police spotted minutes later walking on W. Cedar Street near Pearl Street.
The suspect ran away as the officer tried to talk with him, and was arrested after a short chase.
The suspect could face charges of assault with intent to murder, and resisting and obstructing arrest pending a review by the prosecutor's office.
The victim was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital and listed in stable condition.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the initial confrontation between the victim and the suspect, according to a news release.
