CONVIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man with an outstanding warrant attempted to flee authorities Tuesday afternoon but was soon arrested.

Around 12:15 p.m., a Calhoun County sheriff's deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle after its driver was seen speeding along N Drive North near 14 Mile Road in Convis Township.

Instead of stopping, the driver sped up and went off-road in an effort to elude the deputy. He then got out of hisĀ  vehicle and ran through a wooded area.

Deputies soon found the man with the help of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit and arrested him without incident.

The name of the suspect, a 37-year-old Battle Creek resident, is being withheld pending arraignment.

He is lodged at the Calhoun County Jail for fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license and the warrant for failure to appear.
