Man arrested after crashing into pole

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A man was arrested after he sped away from officers and crashed his car into a telephone pole.

Police told 24 Hour News 8 the crash happened around 1 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Elizabeth Street in Kalamazoo.

Police said an officer tried to pull over the driver for a traffic stop, but the driver disobeyed and sped away, eventually losing control of his vehicle and crashed into a pole.

According to police, no one was hurt in the crash.

The driver will likely face numerous charges, including drunken driving.
