PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) - One person suffered burns on his hands and several people were seen running from the scene, in connection with a house explosion.
Portage Department of Public Safety personnel was dispatched at 12:02 a.m. Monday to the Wendy's restaurant, 5830 S. Westnedge Ave., where the injured man sought medical aid. The man was transported to a hospital.
A few minutes later, a resident in the 500 block of W. Van Hoesen Boulevard called 911 to report an explosion.
Officers arrived in the neighborhood and saw the damaged house, which had the front porch wall blown off and the windows blown out, according to a news release.
No one was at the residence, but the witness saw several people running from the home after the blast, police said.
A neighbor was evacuated until it was safe to return to the area.
A search warrant was served at the residence, and authorities found methamphetamine-making components inside the home.
