Paintball shot hurts homeless man's eye

Police searching for four to five suspects

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - A homeless man may lose an eye after being shot by a paintball gun under a bridge in Battle Creek.

The Battle Creek Police Department is looking for a handful of people involved in the shooting around 1:40 a.m. Monday morning under the M-66 bridge over Dickman Road.

Steven Soderborg, 54,may lose an eye from the incident.

The four or five suspects fled the scene and Soderborg walked to police headquarters, Battle Creek Police Sgt. Art McClenney told 24 Hour News 8.

Officers took Soderborg to Battle Creek Health System and he was later transferred to the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.

Police said there are no witnesses that they know of, and are asking for the public's help with tips about what happened.
