KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - An official says four people got stuck in a Kalamazoo parking ramp elevator for about an hour because they apparently were jumping up and down.
Mike Mroczek, who works for Otis Elevator Co., tells the Kalamazoo Gazette that the three men and one woman stuck Wednesday night at the Central City Parking ramp likely were in their 20s. He says he freed them about 15 minutes after arriving on the scene.
Mroczek says that when people jump in an elevator it flexes the cables. He says that activates a safety feature designed to stop an elevator that's moving too fast.
Mroczek says it's the second time this year he's had to free people from the parking ramp elevators because they were jumping.
