Fire damages La Mexicana in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Fire damaged a Kalamazoo business Sunday morning.

A passerby noticed smoke and flames coming from the La Mexicana Market at 6:03 a.m., and called 911.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded at 1956 Portage St., and saw the majority of the fire was in the back of the building.

Officers were on scene for about four hours.

A firefighter suffered a minor injury. She was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released.

The Kalamazoo fire marshal is investigating the case, so you are asked to call police at
