KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A man and a woman are in the Kalamazoo County Jail, accused in connection with burglarizing a business.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded at 11:47 p.m. Monday to an alarm at Family Dollar, 1710 S. Westnedge Ave.

Officers arrived and saw the glass broken on the front door.

Police watched the store's surveillance video, which showed the male suspect broke the window by using a tire iron that he stole from a vehicle in the parking lot.

The suspect stole several items of clothing from the store, police said, and then ran from the scene.

Public Safety officer Marc Rifenberg responded with his K-9 unit dog, Titan, and tracked the suspect for 10 minutes, and found him and a female accomplice in the 500 block of W. Maple Street. The suspect and the woman were carrying the stolen property, police said.

The male suspect, a 45-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering, larceny from a vehicle and a parole detainer.

Charges of receiving and concealing stolen property against the 47-year-old accomplice are pending upon review of this investigation by the prosecutor's office.
