OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A Michigan State Police trooper was injured after his parked cruiser was struck from behind when the other vehicle's driver lost control on the icy road.

The trooper from the Paw Paw Post was parked on the shoulder of Eighth Street north of ML Avenue in Oshtemo Township around 7:50 a.m. Thursday.

A southbound motorist in a Ford Fusion lost control of the car, resulting in the wreck, according to a news release from Michigan State Police.

The trooper sustained a laceration over his left eye and was treated at the scene by an EMS crew.

Deputies from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department and a reconstructionist from the Michigan State Police Fifth District Headquarters are investigating the incident.
