VICKSBURG, Mich. (WOOD) - Authorities are looking for whoever knocked over several headstones at a Vicksburg cemetery.
Vicksburg Police Chief Eric West confirmed to 24 Hour News 8 that headstones at the cemetery were knocked over and some planters were defaced. He said his department is investigating the vandalism.
Police say a passerby reported the damage Monday, though they aren't sure when the vandalism actually happened.
The cemetery is next to an old paper mill that burned down last week. That fire was determined to be arson and the investigation continues.
The chief says police have received some tips on the arson, but he doesn't know if the two cases are related.
There are no suspects yet in the vandalism.
Anyone with information on the arson or the cemetery vandalism is asked to contact the Vicksburg Police Department 269.649.1144.
