ALBION, Mich. (WOOD) - A 23-year-old bike rider was hit by a freight train in downtown Albion Wednesday morning and was airlifted to Bronson Hospital with what officials called "serious injuries."
Just before 10 a.m., Ervin Hunter was struck by the engine of the train near East Superior Street and North Michigan Avenue. Authorities said he was dragged about 100 feet and found under the ninth car of the train.
Police told 24 Hour News 8 video - obtained from a nearby business -- shows him riding very fast in an effort to beat the train. It's believed he was on his way to work at the time.
A medical helicopter was called, and the man was flown to Bronson for treatment.
He lost at least one limb in the accident.
