PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 65-year-old Battle Creek woman died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night in Pennfield Township.

The wreck occurred just before 6 p.m. near Capital Avenue and J. Bartlett Street, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff'd Department.

Karen Ann Smith was driving north when she tried to make a left turn, and collided with a southbound vehicle, police said.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries she suffered.

The driver of the other vehicle -- 21-year-old Alexander Weststrate from Battle Creek -- was transported to Bronson Battle Creek for treatment to non life-threatening injuries.

Weststrate was taken to Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek with non life-threatening injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
