CLIMAX, Mich. (WOOD) - Police continue to hunt for the man who robbed the Climax Banking Center Wednesday afternoon, then fled into a cornfield.
Around 12:30 p.m., the man robbed the bank then fled down Main Street to a park. A witness saw him cross the railroad tracks and run into a corn field.
Police cordoned off the area. Though a helicopter and police dogs were brought in to help with the search, the man was able to elude authorities.
While the search for the man was in progress, the Climax-Scotts Junior High and High School were on lockdown. The lock down was lifted around 3:45 p.m.
The suspect is described as a white man, about 6 feet tall, with a salt-and-pepper mustache. He was wearing a light-colored hoodie, a dark ski mask and blue jeans. Police learned a man fitting this description was seen earlier in the day, and said his hair may be shoulder-length and balding on top.
If you have any information about this robbery, you're asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office at 269.383.8748 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
