KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Police are looking for a man who they say attempted to rob another man, and then assaulted and stabbed him.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers were dispatched at 9:56 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Drexel Place.
When officers arrived they saw a 41-year-old man suffering from a stab wound in his abdomen. The victim told police he was walking in the 400 block of Norway Avenue when the suspect "approached him and demanded he turn over his property," according to a news release.
The suspect reached into one of the victim's pockets. The victim pushed the suspect's hands away and the suspect then punched the victim three times in the face and stabbed him once with a knife, police said.
The victim fled to Drexel Place where someone saw him and called for help. The victim was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital for treatment to his non-life threatening injuries. The suspect did not steal anything from the victim, and also fled the scene.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6’1", weighs about 180 pounds, and wearing dark clothing at the time. His age range is not known.
